A Rare Appearance of Three Visionary Artists in Ventura, CA.
Featuring Kim Rosen, Michael Fitzpatrick and Gary Malkin
Mystics, poets and shamans have always known that powerful music joined with poetry can unlock the mind, melt the heart and bring all levels of being into harmony. Consciousness shifts, brainwaves change, biochemistry alters, healing and revelation abound.
Join these three inspirational artists to discover the magic of merging inspired music with the transformative power of some of the greatest poetry of all time. In this concert, Spoken Word Artist and author, Kim Rosen, Composer/Pianist Gary Malkin, and Master Cellist Michael Fitzpatrick will pioneer new frontiers of the ancient partnership between poetry and music.
Kim Rosen’s gift of speaking the poems of ancient and modern writers has opened thousands to poetry’s power to awaken and transform individuals and communities. She reveals that poetry is our first language: the language of the soul, the most ancient vessel of prayer and revelation. Gary Malkin, who recently moved to Ojai, is a master composer and pianist. His music fuses the power of meditation with the beauty of a gorgeous film soundtrack. Michael Fitzpatrick, the cellist who has been performing around the world with the Dalai Lama for many years, brings a classic quality to the evening that only the richness of the cello can provide.
Kim Rosen, MFA, author of Saved by a Poem: The Transformative Power of Words (Hay House, 2009), has touched listeners all over the world with the power of spoken poetry. Combining her devotion to poetry with her background in spirituality and psychology, she has recited in a spectrum of settings from the New Orleans Superdome to a Maasai Safe House in the Great Rift Valley. She is the co-creator of 4 CDs of poems and music and her writing has been featured in O Magazine, The Sun, and The New Yorker Magazine. www.kimrosen.net
